Add Captions to Videos Hosted in Google Drive

Videos hosted in Google Drive can include user-supplied captions. Similar to YouTube videos, a plain transcript file can also be uploaded and Google will figure out the timing for the captions.

Here are the steps:
  1. After uploading the video, click on it in the Drive window
  2. image of View details button. If the file details are not visible, click on the View Details button
  3. The Details panel includes a section to manage caption tracks - click on the pencil icon to access this dialog

  4. Click the link to Add new captions or transcripts - a caption file can be added (this can be created by the state distance education captioning grant via 3C Media Solutions), as can a plain text transcript (Google will work out the timing)
